Dwennimmɛn - Adinkra Symbol Art Print
Dwennimmɛn - strength. humility. wisdom.
This sky blue poster features the Adinkra symbol Dwennimmɛn, which represents the combination of strength, wisdom, learning and humility. The literal translation* of the word Dwennimmɛn in Akan is "ram's horns", but the symbolic meaning of Dwennimmɛn can not be limited to a single word. Adinkra symbols are West African designs that have represented elements of Ghanaian values and culture for hundreds of years.
*Literal translation from the book: "The Adinkra Dictionary - A Visual Primer on the Language of Adinkra" and my parents. Akan (or Twi) is spoken in both Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.
